Taking that first step

Congratulations! You made a first step towards counseling. It’s not always easy to take that leap of faith with someone you don’t know. So, learn a little about me to see if you’d think we’d make a good fit.

My Journey to counseling

I’ve always been the quiet thinker interested in what others think. So, I started learning about psychology. You know what I found out? We all hurt, we all love and we all want a sense of belonging. I truly love helping people. It has been such a humbling and wonderful experience to hold space for those that are suffering or just interested in learning more about themselves. I am genuinely interested in others and bring a nonjudgmental acceptance to counseling.

What Will therapy look like?

You are the expert on you and I will be your co-pilot. Together we will work towards making you feeling more confident and comfortable in your life. We will talk about different skills and ways to look at a stressor to alleviate them.

Whether this is your first time searching for a therapist or you are beginning your next chapter of therapy, we will work together to create an individualized plan to meet your needs and goals.

While the process of therapy looks different for each client, all clients can expect:

  • To set the pace of their therapy, sharing as much or little as desired

  • To be viewed as the expert of their own life

  • Non-judgmental, unconditional support

  • Trauma informed, culturally competent care

  • Evidence based methods of therapy

Mental Health Speciality

While I welcome all people who are looking to learn more about themselves or to lessen some of their burden, I find working with parents, young adults and teens incredibly rewarding- for many different reasons- but one commonality is that there can be a lot of transition and adjustment periods for these groups. Transitions in life can be very challenging and having additional support can be priceless.

Another area of interest and specialty I cherish is working with creative individuals and highly sensitive people.

Therapy Interventions with me

My approach to therapy is to create a safe space where you can explore and heal the difficult and painful issues that are showing up in your life. Together we will move beyond problem-solving into releasing the mistaken beliefs and core unresolved issues behind your symptoms.

My body-centered and mindfulness approach allows me to work directly with your nervous system to address symptoms like anxiety, racing thoughts, and irrational fears as well as feeling stuck, depressed and unavailable or unresponsive to life and relationships. We work together to clear that path so that you’re most authentic, creative, and passionate self can emerge and shine through.

My Education

I received my Bachelors in Psychology and Art History from DePaul University. Psychology has always fascinated me and art history has long been a passion of mine. After undergrad I went to complete my Masters in Clinical Psychology from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Sciences. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, and registered yoga teacher! I did my teacher training, focusing on trauma sensitive yoga at Moksha Yoga Center in Chicago where I met some really rad teachers.

My free time

In my free time you’ll see me engaging in my passions such as being with my family, my two little boys, husband and our goofy dog, Bear. I also love painting, reading, running and hiking and find a lot of enjoyment and meditation during these activities.
